Our Quality-of-Life (QOL) Consultation Service starts with a one-hour virtual session with the pet parent(s) during which our team learns about the family’s needs, beliefs, and end-of-life goals.
Through the duration of our QOL Services, our team guides pet parents toward a better understanding of the recommendations made by the primary care provider. We focus on offering resources, tips, and tricks that can enable the pet parent to provide enhanced support to their furbaby for the best possible quality-of-life. Our goal is to complement veterinary care, not replace it. We provide ongoing support through decision-making and end-of-life preparations. Our services continue with compassionate grief companionship to support pet parents after the final goodbye.
For furbabies whose quality-of-life has declined and pet parents or when pet parents are struggling to make those final decisions, our team provides End-of-Life (EOL) planning sessions where pet parents are prompted to ask questions, consider options, and receive support in deciding when to schedule euthanasia. EOL planning is included in our QOL Services but can also be scheduled as an independent session for those families who were not in need of full QOL support.
We offer an online course suitable for any veterinary employee or as supplemental course content in Vet Tech and Vet Assistant Training Programs. Our Soft Skills Master Course covers basic communication skills including phone etiquette, reception desk and waiting room demeanor, professional language for written communications, and compassion training.
Often the reception team or vet assistants find themselves responsible for the initial triage of all animals coming into the veterinary practice despite not having adequate training, knowledge, skill, or confidence. Our Triage Crash Course prepares vet team members to safely and confidently conduct effective triage so that advanced team members can be notified of critical situations sooner. Triage preparedness can save seconds and seconds can save lives.
Our Pet Sitting Courses are designed for those who want to start a pet-sitting business. Our Level 1 course covers content on business planning and startup, safety, animal handling, communication, and tips for good pet sitter etiquette. For those interested in advancing their services by offering pet-sitting to special needs animals, our Level 2 course provides the training needed to offer Medical Pet Sitting Services. Our Level 2 Pet Sitting course covers content that includes animal observation, documentation, and techniques for medication administration.
As caregivers, we function in high-stress roles and are at a high risk for developing Compassion Fatigue. We can do our best to reduce the ramifications of chronic overwhelm but complete elimination of stress may be an unrealistic expectation. Our Compassion Fatigue and Stress Management session encourages students to focus on their individual needs and lifestyles by considering resources to realistically cope with the challenges of life while balancing their professional roles.
